Ahoe (雅會), Sharing Tea - The Aesthetics of Tea Culture in Joseon Paintings

Tea House HADA is pleased to present a special lecture with Song Hee Kyung, Director of the Gyeomjae Jeongseon Art Museum, exploring the tea culture and aesthetic sensibilities portrayed in Ahoedo ((雅會圖, Gatherings of the Literati) in Joseon painting.

Within these scenes, painted by Jeong Seon and other scholar-artists of the Joseon Dynasty, tea served not merely as a beverage, but as a medium for friendship, contemplation, and intellectual exchange. Through a close reading of these works, the lecture invites us to appreciate the cultural and philosophical significance that tea held in the lives of Joseon's literati.
